To
many people who are poor, starving and suffering throughout
the world, the Red Cross offers the only real chance of
hope. Often we are the only humanitarian organisation able
to get through when war, famine or disaster has destroyed
families and communities.
Money is the lifeblood of rapid response. It can be instantly
transferred and converted into whatever is most needed.
Why we ask for money not gifts.
£2 a month for a year could buy twelve daily measures
of water and oral rehydration salts, enough for 480 children.
£3 a month for a year could buy enough food parcels
to feed 120 people caught up in a natural disaster.
£5 a month for a year could by 36 family size mosquito
nets for families to sleep under at night to prevent malaria
from mosquito bites.
£10 a month for a year could train twelve people
in lifesaving first aid skills.

The
British Red Cross opened an appeal at the beginning of January
to help hundreds of thousands of people affected by the

the results of the presidential election. Hundreds of people
have been killed and injured, and hundreds of thousands
made homeless due to the clashes.

£148,000 so far, is supporting the Red Cross Movement’s
response in Kenya and neighbouring countries that have been
affected.
The Red Cross has been providing family kits, which contain
a range of relief items including soap, tarpaulins and jerry
cans for carrying water.
How your donation could help:

shelter.
£20 could provide two families with food parcels

When
disasters strike in the UK and across the world, our speed
of response is essential. Quick action prevents a disaster
from becoming a catastrophe.
Nobody can predict the exact location of the next flood,
cyclone, earthquake or violent conflict. But when they happen,
the British Red Cross must be ready to act within hours
not days.
How your donation could help:
£5 could provide water purification tablets to 60
people
£18 could provide two first aid kits, used during
an incident like the London bombings.
£25 could buy two family kits for people affected
by a natural disaster.
£50 could help train a volunteer to respond to emergencies
here in the UK.
